Day 164 Bible Reading: 1 Kings 11-12, Acts 8:26-40, Psalm 131 and Proverb 17:4-5 
When King Solomon was a little child, he asked God to give him a discerning heart to govern God’s people. God not only gave him a discerning heart, but He gave him wisdom too, thus he became a wise man for mankind. Although he was successful, he also let his success consume him and turned his heart away from God. What about you? Is Jesus the centre of your life? Many start well but do not finish well.
"For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father." – 1 Kings 11:4 (English Standard Version)
"Father Lord, I pray by the power of the Holy Spirit to help us to win the race we run, help us to have spiritual discipline to deny ourselves, and take your Cross to run a race toward our heavenly reward. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
