Day 165 Bible Reading: 1 Kings 13, Acts 9, Psalm 132 and Proverb 17:6 
Have you ever wondered why God loves to make promises? As I begin to ponder this in the light of what I understand about him in the Bible I am reminded that:
Our God is a God who loves to make promises because in Him and only in Him we can find fullness of joy and everything good and perfect. God wants us to look and learn to delight in Him and begin to see Him as our ultimate source of everything we need in life. Pay attention to his promises, He is a God who not only love to make promises but also a God who keeps His promises.
There are few things taught in the Bible about God that are more central to His self-revelation to his people of who he is than this: God is faithful to his word, his oath, his promises, his covenant.
"The Lord swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back..." – Psalm 132:11a (English Standard Version)
"Heavenly Father, I thank you for all your promises to us as your children. Your promises reflect your desire to share with me all that you are; your goodness, mercy and loving kindness so that I can be all that you have planned for the glory of your precious name. Amen."
