God had promised that punishment would follow disobedience, and God did. But God is faithful, He does not want people to perish. When we do wrong, He promises a way out. If you obey God. He promises to bless you and protect your children. He showed his punishment to King David's children when they did wrong. God always remembers David's obedience and goodness.
"Nevertheless, for David's sake the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem." – 1 Kings 15:4 (English Standard Version)
"Father Lord, I pray your hand of protection to be upon us and our generations. Thank you for your faithfulness. Protect us and our children from the plans of wicked people and help us to walk in truth. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
