Day 182 Bible Reading: 2 Kings 18-19, Acts 21:1-17, Psalm 149 and Proverb 18:8
Gossip is like a savoury bit of food that others swallow greedily. They go down into one’s most innermost being of a person’s thoughts and emotions, and leave an indelible mark. Gossip destroys the relationship of others, even close friends. The book of Proverbs is clear that we should never slander another person.
"The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body." – Proverbs 18:8 (English Standard Version)
"Forgive me, Lord, for the times when I have slandered another person or talked behind a person’s back. Help me to know how to gently confront the person with honest communication and with honest speech if something isn’t right between us, rather than slander the person. Amen."
