2018-08-31 (FRI) Kindness

Day 22

Kindness may be one of the most underrated fruits on the “fruit stand”. Kindness seems like something that is pretty ordinary, but when you really think about it, kindness is actually life changing. The exhibition and expression of the fruit of kindness can literally change the lives of those around us.

However, we are referring to Heavenly kindness, not earthly kindness. We equate earthly kindness as being nice or pleasant, as though it is mainly about smiling, getting along, and not ruffling feathers. But the Bible presents a very different, and compelling, portrait of kindness. It is not a product of law but the Spirit! People can be kind apart from the Kingdom of God, but their kindness can be impure and incomplete.

The very of nature of showing Kingdom kindness to another person affirms that the person’s sense of worth in God. It affirms the person’s worth, telling him that he is important enough for you to be inconvenienced. This kind of kindness changes everything because it is supernatural, powerful and ultimately reflects God’s kindness.

"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." - Ephesians 4:31-32 (English Standard Version)

"Dear Lord, teach me to be like You in all my ways. Teach me to be kind and to be loving, forgiving, and caring. Let my light shine so brightly that people are drawn to me wanting to know You, not me. And as they seek You, they will surely find You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"
