2018-09-20 (THU) Self In Control

Day 42

Self-control is multifaceted. It includes the attitude, thoughts and emotions — our internal state.

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (Rom. 12:3)

Self-control also includes the body - our external as well. (1 Thess. 4:3-5 & 1 Cor. 7:36-37)

Self-control is primarily inward and only secondarily outward. God wants us to learn to control our life under the control of His Holy Spirit. This is because self-control operates under Spirit-control. Let the Spirit control your body, mind and emotions today.

25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. - 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 (ESV)

"Father, I pray for the gift of freedom that You freely offer to all us. Holy Spirit, dwell in me and cast out all that keeps me in bondage. I seek true freedom that only You, Lord can give me so that I may live in peace and joy in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!"
