Day 134 Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 15-16, John 8:1-20, Psalm 110 and Proverb 15:8-10 
Confucius, the ancient Chinese philosopher, was quoted as saying, “I have yet to meet a man as fond of high moral conduct as he is of outward appearances.” A research study done by Travelodge revealed that “On average men spend 81 minutes a day on personal grooming, including cleansing, toning and moisturizing, shaving, styling hair and choosing clothes, the study found. Women have their beauty regime down to a fine art and get hair, clothes and make-up done in just 75 minutes (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/). The time had come to choose a leader for the nation of Israel and the prophet Samuel was impressed with Eliab. – good looking, he thought. But the Lord told Samuel that is not how He sees him. Is your heart pure? Jesus is an only answer. On the Cross, your identity switched from sinner to saint.
"But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.'" – 1 Samuel 16:7 (English Standard Version)
"Father, you have given me my looks because I am made in Your own image. May my heart be pure like yours, full of love, grace, and beauty. Help me to see the heart of others instead of their grooming self. Amen."
