Day 147 Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 11-12, John 16, Psalm 119:65-80 and Proverb 16:4-5 
What’s the problem with pride? Biblical writers unanimously condemn pride because it promotes an illusion of self-sufficiency. It discounts grace; it ignores God’s hand; it strangles thankfulness. Psalm 10:4 explains that "In his pride, the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God." In the Beatitudes, Jesus provides us with the clues to living in a new identity as we are a new creation with a new humility. The Beatitudes accurately describe who we are, revealing the character of those in God's Kingdom, rather than the conditions to God’s Kingdom. “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3)
