Day 165 Bible Reading: 1 Kings 13, Acts 9, Psalm 132 and Proverb 17:6 
Have you ever wondered why God loves to make promises? As I begin to ponder this in the light of what I understand about him in the Bible, I am reminded that;
Our God is a God who loves to make promises because in Him and only in Him, we can find the fullness of joy and everything good and perfect. God wants us to look and learn to delight in Him and begin to see Him as our ultimate source of everything we need in life. God is faithful to his word, his oath, his promises, his covenant. He is a king. When God makes a covenant, the terms are based on his standards, rules, and promises. God also keeps his promises, the fulfillment of his promise involved Jesus' death and resurrection. Have we kept our promise; is our life is ruled by our King – Jesus?

"Heavenly Father, I thank you for all your promises to us as your children. Help us to obey and trust in you. Your promises reflect your heart of sharing; your goodness, mercy, and loving-kindness. All this you have planned for the glory of your precious name. Amen."
