In addition to justification, God gives us another fantastic privilege when we become Christian, the right of adoption. God could have forgiven our sins and just given us justification to stand before Him without giving us a sonship identity. But God loves us so much that He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. God gave us a Spirit of adoption as sons and daughters and the power of the Holy Spirit working in us to change our slavish fears towards God as we are princes or princesses of Heaven and Almighty God. All authorities God has given to you. Do you know that in the first century, adopted sonship is an heir who has the legal right to receive what his or her father has? The word adopted-son is a great honor in the first century.
"For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!' The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God," – Romans 8:15-16 (English Standard Version)
"Abba Father, King of kings and Lord of lords, I love you. Thank you for choosing me to be your adopted child, and for allowing me to come to you directly through Jesus Christ. Father, thank you for giving me all your authority and power to love and serve in the new way of the Spirit. Help us to live a life that reflects we are the children of God. In Jesus' name, Amen."
