Day 285 Bible Reading: Jeremiah 19-20, 1 Thessalonians 4-5, Psalm 82 and Proverbs 25:9-10 
Every society has some who are rich and powerful, and others who are marginalized. The writer of this psalm recognized the fundamental unfairness of the imbalance while at the same time asking God to be the impartial judge to defend, rescue, deliver, and protect those in need. We are born to receive, but we are re-born to give, protect, and serve the poor. Jesus' ministry showed us that He loves the poor, heals the sick, eats with the criminals, and weak.
"Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute." – Psalm 82:3 (English Standard Version)
"Dear Heavenly Father, examine my heart. Do I too quickly side with those with influence and money, while ignoring those who need help? Help me not to be swayed by externals; help me to treat all people honestly and fairly, reflecting your impartiality. In Jesus' name, Amen."
