2019-11-03 (SUN) Grow Up In God’s Family

Day 307 Bible Reading: Ezekiel 7-9, Hebrews 5, Psalm 105:1-15 and Proverbs 26:28 Link opens new window

A baby drinking milk from a bottle is natural, but if a grown adult is still drinking milk from a bottle for his food, there is something wrong with the adult or their parents. And spiritually, this was the problem that the letter to the Hebrews identifies that the Christians, the message is addressed to, were still on spiritual milk and not matured to solid spiritual food. And what are the criteria for moving to solid spiritual food? When we are saved, we are in God's family. We have a spiritual father and brothers and sisters in Christ. Have you seen a baby is growing up by his or herself once is born? A baby is born in a family and is growing up with parents or others. Paul encourages believers not to give up meeting together because we are a family. We grow up together.

"For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil." – Hebrews 5:12-14 (English Standard Version)

"Father Lord, thank you for adopting me to your kingdom family. Help me to accept and love one another and listen to one another. Please help me to grow with my family in Christ together. I belong to the family of God. Help me to learn to speak the language of the Kingdom of God. In Jesus' name, Amen."
