Day 323 Bible Reading: Ezekiel 39-40, James 3, Psalm 118:1-7 and Proverbs 28:1 
Both Peter and Paul remind us to pray for our governmental leaders, and this proverb reflects one reason why. We need men and women of true wisdom who can see people and care of people from God’s heart. When there are many voices clamouring for attention and conflicting viewpoints, a leader must commit himself to seek God first to apply his heart to understanding (v2:3), and cry out for insight and understanding, and find the knowledge of God (v2:5). For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (v2:6).

"Father God, today, I pray for the leaders of my city and my country. May you give them wisdom and guidance; may they turn their hearts to you. We pray for protection from the chaos and conflict that threatens. We pray for peace and protection, not only for people in our city but that the Gospel will more easily go forth. In Jesus' name, Amen."
