Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1: 3-4 (ESV)

The God of All Comfort

Reflection God is good. He knows everything we are going through, and we are not alone. One thing I have learned over the years is that much of our suffering is intensified by negative thoughts rooted in an “orphan” mindset. But the truth is that we are children of God and heirs of His promises.

Whatever is happening in our lives may be an attempt by the enemy to “steal, kill and destroy,” but God desires for us to have abundant life. When we face inevitable trials, there are two things we must practise. First, we need to count it all joy. Joy is not a feeling but a command from God. Every trial can be an opportunity for growth, and God can work it for our good. Second, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, releasing His joy, love, and shalom from within us. This way, we do not give the enemy room to harm us.
Prayer Jesus, You are good, and You work all things together for our good. Help us to focus on Your Word when we face trials. Fill us with joy, love and shalom, and lead us in Your ways. Amen.
