Reflection
Early that fateful morning, the religious leaders dragged the innocent Jesus to Pilate’s headquarters. Yet they refused to step inside. They feared ceremonial defilement that would prevent them from eating the Passover lamb.
What irony! These men meticulously guarded their external rituals while plotting the murder of the true Passover Lamb: Jesus Christ, who would soon shed His blood for the sins of the world. They obsessed over outward cleanliness but harboured hearts filled with envy, deceit, and violence.
How often do we do the same? We attend church, follow spiritual routines, and maintain a polished image, yet allow bitterness, pride, or compromise to linger unchecked in our souls. True holiness begins not with rules, but with a heart surrendered to Christ.
Today, let’s examine our inner life. Let the Holy Spirit cleanse what rituals alone cannot touch. Jesus, the spotless Lamb, invites us to genuine purity through His sacrifice.
Prayer
Lord, cleanse us from outward religion and inward sin. Create in us a pure heart surrendered to You, the true Passover Lamb. Amen.
