But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him, “Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?” And he was speechless.Matthew 22:11-12 (ESV)
The man without the wedding garment had one provided for him, but he didn’t want to change into new clothes. The wedding robe represents the garment of righteousness that grace provides for us. To enter the “wedding” (His Kingdom), a change in us is necessary. We cannot simply decide to enter into the gates without desiring to change our old selves and refuse to be made new. It is our choice if we want to put on the wedding garment daily, and make changes in our lives as followers of Christ The Lord gave us an open invitation; it is up to us to take it or not.
Father, help us to make daily decisions to follow You and to humble ourselves to make necessary changes in areas of our lives to be more like You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
