When I first watched the movie Spiderman, a phrase from this film that I often repeat to my children is "With great power comes great responsibility". This was to reaffirm the responsibility of doing what is right. The more power they have, the more influence they have, not just to themselves but to their family, and society as a whole. There are many good excuses for not doing what God says is right. Take the governor Pilate as an example - he cast away his responsibility of making the right decision due to the pressure of the crowd. The question each of us must answer in our daily lives is, "Do we please God or do we please men?"
Father in heaven, I pray that You give us wisdom, strength and boldness to discern and do what is righteous in Your eyes, to be the salt and light of the world, and not to shirk our Godly responsibilities to share the good news of Jesus. In Jesus' name. Amen.
