...a still small voice.

1 Kings 19:12 (NKJV)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

John 10:27 (ESV)

Day 243 – A Still Small Voice

When prophet Elijah desperately fled for his life due to Jezebel’s persecution, the Scripture says that God revealed Himself to Elijah in a still small voice. I always wondered why God’s voice is still and small; wouldn’t it be so much easier if it was loud and audible? God is gentle, kind and loving. He knows us and He wants us to know Him from our own free will. He wants an intimate relationship with us and He wants our soul to thirst after Him. We can only earnestly seek His voice if we thirst after Him, pushing aside all distractions.

Prayer

Father in heaven, I pray that You help us hear Your still small voice. Help us seek after Your voice day and night. Help us hear You like sheep and to follow You in obedience. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
