One of the favourite parts of my hikes among the hills in Hong Kong is to witness the eagle soaring across the sky – truly a sight to behold! The eagle would circle around the sky not only looking for food but also to protect its nest from potential predators.
The Bible often uses the symbol of an eagle to portray strength, power, vision and even destruction. But in the scripture above, Moses chose to focus on its gentleness. The eagle is used as a metaphor for God’s love.
Like a parent eagle taking good care of their young, our Lord protects us (2 Thessalonians 3:3), our Lord provides/meets all our needs (Philippians 4:19) and our Lord will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our defender, our rock and our salvation. When we face problems or difficulties in life, we take comfort knowing that You are with us and we choose to walk and live under Your wings. In Jesus' name, Amen.
