His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.2 Peter 1:3-4 (ESV)
God has given us everything we need to live for Him in such a way that reflects who He is. How has He done that? Through Jesus Christ. Notice also in 2 Peter 1:3-4 the relationship between God’s promises and His power to make us partakers of His divine nature and all things that pertain to life and godliness. We need both a truth encounter with God’s Word and a power encounter through His Holy Spirit to wholeheartedly live out God’s supernatural love, wisdom and power in our lives. As we walk in step with God’s Spirit in this way, we become compelling witnesses to the world, helping others to escape its corruption as we have.
Father, reveal Your truth and Your power to us in the quiet place so that we can live supernaturally before a world that needs to see Jesus. In Jesus' name, Amen.
