Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly!Psalm 149:1 (ESV)
The word "praise" appears almost 200 times in the Psalms. Even after writing so many psalms, the psalmist continues to urge the godly to sing new songs to praise the Lord. Where does the inspiration of such songs come from? I believe that they are the result of new encounters with the Living God; they are new articulations of who He is and what He has done. May new songs continue to arise in our hearts as we encounter the Lord anew.
Abba Father, we thank You that You are always at work. Help us not to be content with Your divine move of yesterday, but give us a hunger for fresh encounters with You. Let new songs of praise arise in our hearts as You reveal to us again who You are and what You have done. In Jesus' name, Amen.
