I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.John 16:33 (NIV)
This week's sermon reminded me of the above verse and my salvation decades ago when I was struggling with my future and financial problems at home. As my friend and I were chatting one evening, in my desperation, God made me realise all that I ever had came not only from my effort, but was provided by our Father in Heaven. In the same way, my problems are also not just my own, because God has already carried me as we walk through life together! As I recount all His past blessings, my heart was filled with gratitude, and I regained hope.
Father God, I hope these words serve as an encouragement or a reminder to some of us. Touch our hearts so we can count Your blessings, pass You our burdens, our hurts and defence systems as You give us strength, wisdom and a new beginning, replacing our anxiety with Your heavenly peace. In Jesus's name, Amen.
