I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.John 15:5-6 (ESV)
The heart is the organ that pumps blood throughout the body to supply oxygen and nutrients to the different tissues and organs so that they can perform the vital functions needed to sustain life. If the heart stops pumping, the tissues and organs will die. Jesus said, “I am the Vine; you are the branches ... aside from Me, you can do nothing”. If our relationship with Jesus is broken, like the organs, our spiritual life will also wither, and we will cease to be useful in the works of His Kingdom.
Heavenly Father, we pray that the love You poured into our heart by Your Spirit will help us to abide in You so that Your living Word will continue to flow through our hearts to nourish and encourage others toward loving You. In Jesus Name, we pray. Amen.
