But David’s heart struck him after he had numbered the people. And David said to the Lord, ”I have sinned greatly in what I have done. But now, O Lord, please take away the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”2 Samuel 24:10 (ESV)
David is known to be a man after God’s own heart. He chooses to follow God, and it all starts with understanding in his heart that God is good and great. There was a time when King David became prideful and decided to count the people of Israel. But when he realised his mistake, David repented from the heart.
Dear God, keep our hearts pure, humble, and focused on Jesus. I pray that you will guard our minds, our thoughts, our words, our hearts, and keep us emotionally and spiritually fit in all seasons. Give us a heart that will bless our family, our friends, our colleagues, and our community. Let Your love be the nutrient and vitamin of our hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen.
