For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 (ESV)
The gospel is a message that is delivered in word, in deed, and with the demonstration of the fruit and power of the Holy Spirit. Like Jesus and the Apostles, our words must be backed up by the reality of God’s Kingdom living within us.
Jesus said that our witness can be powerful, confirmed with signs and wonders (Mark 16:15-20). He also said we should let our light shine before others – a witness confirmed by good works that bring glory to our Heavenly Father (Matthew 5:16). This demonstration of the Holy Spirit opens the doors for evangelism and confirms that the gospel is indeed a life transforming message.
Father, we thank You for the power of the gospel, and that you have called us from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of the Son that You love. Help us to live in such a way that our lives are a witness to our non-believing friends and family. Grant us boldness and courage to speak Your word into their lives. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
