The Bible verse “God created us male and female in His image” has always intrigued me. How can man and woman be the same physically? However, I also noticed that God never said He created the animals in His image. Most animals have similar physical characteristics as us, such as arms, legs and a head. The Bible also says that man and woman are co-heirs, so this image must be more than physical. Creation of man in God’s image is therefore unique and “in true righteousness and holiness.”
Father in heaven, we thank You for creating us in Your image and we thank You that through Christ we are able to conform to Your image. We pray that You renew our minds with the knowledge of You, so that we may reflect Your perfect image for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
