Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.Genesis 1:26-27 (ESV)
Man and women were both created in God’s “image” and “likeness”, and both can have a unique personal relationship with God. This reflects His love and character. When Adam and Eve sinned, their moral likeness to God was corrupted, made impure. Jesus Christ gave His perfect life through death to pay the penalty for our sin so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
Father God, we thank You for creating us in Your image and likeness. All people are created equal and are equal because of the image of God. Help us to hate sin and not the sinner, not for who they are. They need to be saved. They are also made in the image of God and loved by God. We should share the gospel to them, love them, pray and have compassion for them. In Jesus name, Amen.
