Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.Exodus 20:12 (ESV)
We are commanded to honour our parents for life. Every so often, children speak rudely or exhibit disrespectful behaviour towards their parents. On the contrary, not all parents are God-fearing and treat their children well, but being the child of bad or uncaring parents, does not negate this commandment.
Maybe our parents didn't live honourable lives. Whatever their circumstances, it really doesn’t matter. We honour them, not just because they deserve it but because it’s the right thing to do.
Heavenly Father, thank You for my parents and the times we spent together. Forgive me for the times when I have not honoured my parents for I know this is dishonouring to You. I pray that my life will be honouring to You. This, I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen
