I have been shown how to clean my hands recently due to Covid-19 and the process is meticulous especially for the finger nails. I felt like correcting others on cleaning their finger nails and this just reminded me of what the Pharisees were asking. Cleaning is important but God looks at our hearts. I contemplated, sought God, and asked myself, did I want to correct others because I wanted to help them or was it because I wanted to be self-righteous?
Father in heaven, I pray that in our quiet times, You reveal the words that we have spoken that reveals our sinful heart. Show us the root cause of these words that come from our heart. Create in us a clean heart, that we may speak words that honour You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
