The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.Matthew 22:2-3 (ESV)
Wedding banquets are occasions to celebrate with the newlyweds. But would wedding ceremonies and banquets be regarded as mere rituals that people will start to do away with them? After all, in this time and age, many things can be done virtually. We may even hold a wedding banquet on Facebook!
Putting aside health and other logistical reasons, being physically there on these occasions are so important and we are also told to wear the “wedding garment” - be there with the right frame of mind and respect.
Father God, we thank You for inviting us into Your Kingdom. We pray that many will respond and accept Your invitation. And we will respond with real commitment that comes with action and with the right attitude, respect and reverence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
