John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptised by you, and do you come to me?" But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness." Then he consented.Matthew 3:14-15 (ESV)
Jesus seeking the baptism of John and John conceding to baptise Jesus shows their obedience to God’s plans. Baptism is purposeful in fulfilling righteousness. It is also symbolic of His death and resurrection. Jesus bore the penalty and punishment of sin by taking the place of sinners. When Jesus was baptised, our Heavenly Father confirmed Him as the Son of God immediately after He came out of the water. We should learn to be obedient to God like Jesus.
I call upon Your love to restore my faith. I will not use what I see with my eyes to determine whether or not Your love is at work in my life. I’m willing to trust You and have faith that You will keep me safe from the Coronavirus. I surrender this whole situation to You and ask for a peaceful outcome. Your will be done. Amen!
