If any women in the world hit the standard raised by Proverbs 31, it is the women of Hong Kong. But it can be overwhelming to live a life of such high demand. Like Martha, intense business can lead to neglect of the soul. Beware of falling into the performance trap of finding identity and value in activity. What’s most important is who we are at the core, and for that to be authentic, we must, like Mary, find our identity and value at Jesus feet.
Father, we pray for our mothers and the women who are so important in our lives. With all of the expectations and demands placed on them by society and their families, we pray for freedom from the burdens this can create. We pray they find value in, and be valued for, sitting at Your feet and choosing the greater thing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
