With the advent of technology and vast information flow, there is now perhaps less regard for the wisdom of the elderly. But there are still things that can only be accumulated through the passage of time - respect the experience of the elderly.
Elderly however, cannot feel entitled to respect, rather they have to earn respect. Stay relevant, productive, understanding and compassionate. Show the splendour of the old!
The Golden Rule still applies to both the young and old - “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)
Lord, help us value and respect one another, the young and the old. May our young people continue to honour the old and fear the Lord. Energise our elderly and give them power, that they might show Your glory! In Jesus' name, Amen.
