Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.1 Timothy 5:1-2 (ESV)
There are many ways we can talk to older people. We should be talking in a way that they feel prized. They are to be prized and honoured.
God has commanded us “You shall stand up before the gray head and honour the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:32) The way we treat our elders is a test of our faith. We should show them respect. Respect for our elders and reverence for God often go hand in hand.
Lord, help us to treat everyone with respect, and to honour those who are older than us in our church community. Give us the grace to love them as Christ loved us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
