Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.Colossians 3:20 (ESV)
When I was a child, my parents used to tell my siblings and I how hurt they felt every time we disobeyed them or were rude to them. Now as a parent, I can understand their feelings. Colossians 3:20 says that children are to obey their parents in everything for this pleases the Lord. When we disobey our parents, God is not pleased. It is His command that we honour our parents.
Father God, thank You for our parents who love us sacrificially. Please forgive us for the times we hurt them with our words, bad attitude and disobedience. Forgive us also for displeasing You when we disobeyed our parents. Help us to always honour our parents, love them and show them compassion. May You be gracious to our parents as they are Your precious children too. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
