Sheep are gentle, quiet, innocent animals, unable to defend themselves. They depend on the shepherd who guards, feeds and tends to them. They recognise his voice. I want, indeed yearn, for God to protect me and tend to my needs. But do I invite Him to speak? Do I listen attentively and avoid distractions? Do I listen more and speak less? Do I take time to listen and meditate on His word?
Heavenly Father, thank You for protecting me like a shepherd. Help me to invite You regularly to speak. Help me to listen attentively and know and follow Your teachings. Help me to guard against false teachers and to discern and recognise your voice. Thank You that I am part of the flock and that You are my shepherd. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
