In Matthew, Jesus asks us to learn from two creatures that are of opposite natures. How to perfect such will probably take a lifetime of practice in our walk with Him.
Psalm 55:6 gives us an insight into doves. Doves have swift wings that allow them to fly away in danger and find rest. When feeling oppressed, we are often fueled to play offense. To stay inoffensive, we must rise above and fly away from what is laid before us, and seek rest in Him. Time out in Him gives us shelter, purify our hearts, helping us to remain in Him and stay innocent.
Father God, help us to come to You when oppressed. Purify our hearts. Give us wisdom and understanding to be in but not of this world, to be alert and be innocent. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
