In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’Acts 20:35 (ESV)
Oxen teach us lessons in serving others. “It is more blessed to give than receive.” (Acts 20:35). God is the Giver of everything good and perfect. Not only are we becoming more like Jesus by serving others, we are also trusting more in His provision for us, which in turn gives us joy and peace.
Jesus challenges us not to serve only when it is convenient. We always do our best to serve people we love. What about those unwelcomed ones in our lives? “Going the extra mile” is often what it takes to turn the tables lovingly on our enemies.
We love because He first loved us. Receive love. Give love.
Father God, help us to be diligent and not give up when facing resistance or setbacks. Let the work of our hands be a hallmark of excellence that glorifies Jesus. We leave all outcome to You as we acknowledge Your lordship in every area of our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
