No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.Matthew 6:24 (ESV)
The ox is considered to be an unintelligent animal but it still knows who is its master. The Israelites were chosen by God and were well taken care of, yet they did not understand that God is the only one they should follow and obey. Sometimes we are like the Israelites, we love the things in the world and forget our provider – the one true God.
Father Lord, please forgive us when we sometimes forget that all we have comes from You. We think that we are wise and can do all things on our own. Thank You Lord for Your unconditional love and patience with us. Please lead us to fix our eyes on You and not on flesh. In Jesus' name, Amen.
