…the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed...Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain...Revelation 5:5-6 (NIV)
During our safari trip to Kruger, South Africa, last year, while in the jungle, we suddenly heard such a thunderous and fearful roar of a lion echoing so loudly across the plains. Little did we realise within the hour as we were being driven in the jeep that we witnessed a most touching, emotional and teary sight, a sight to behold, of the lioness running towards her cubs, and the cubs likewise running towards the lioness. As the mother and her cubs met, about ten feet away from our jeep, it just brought tears to all of our eyes, as the lioness in her own animal-like manner embraced, cuddled and expressed a sigh of relief to have found her lost cubs. Even our ranger said that in her years in the jungle, she had not witnessed such a precious encounter!
At the moment of that encounter, I just felt that the humongous lioness exhibited traits of a lamb, full of parental tenderness, affection and devotion. It is only through first knowing and experiencing the unconditional love of Christ as a Lamb, can we appreciate Him as the majestic Lion of Judah! The faith in Him as a Lamb eradicates the fear in Him as a Lion.
Dear Heavenly Father, how can we ever thank You for taking our place on the cross. You bore all of our sins and transgressions at Calvary so that we are set free to experience Your unconditional love, mercy and grace.
Today, we are reminded of your majestic power and splendour as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Nothing surpasses You, even especially during these challenging days. We commit ourselves, our loved ones, our health, our well-being, finances and our future into Your Hands! In Your Most Precious Name we pray, Amen!
