In the passage above, we see the Shulamite woman initially refusing to let her pursuer come near her. However, when she changes her mind, she is determined to focus on her pursuer’s positive qualities rather than his negatives. Similarly, in marriage, when one spouse selfishly, the other is likely to respond in kind. When both spouses act selflessly, both get what they need and desire. It is most important for a couple to show grace and love to each other, for “love covers a multitude of sins” and “does not take into account the wrong suffered“.
Heavenly Father, help us to act selflessly towards our spouse and always see the positives in them rather than focus on the negatives and let Your grace and love abound in our relationships. In Jesus name, Amen!
