However, let each one of you love his wife as himself and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

I still remember that day, many years ago, when I received the revelation that I have been looking to my husband to fulfill my needs when I should be looking to God. It totally changed my perspective of my marriage. I repented and asked God to show me, to share with me how He sees him. I released him of the responsibility of meeting my needs. The stress and tension in our marriage started to slowly dissipate. Love, respect and honour for each other grew and our marriage became a joy and blessing.
Our marriage is still in progress of getting better, and I believe for even better times ahead. We have become closer and it makes working through things easier in times of conflict. May you find your fulfillment in God alone and then be that help to your spouse to be more Christ-like.
Father God, thank You for helping us see our spouses through Your eyes. They are lovable and worthy of our support, comfort and encouragement. Amen.
