And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

In the Garden of Eden where God created Eve for Adam, this first couple was meant to be with each other for all eternity. They were the first covenant couple, in sweet fellowship with one another, and with God, until sin entered their world. Today, couples exchange solemn vows with a lifetime commitment with “I do” and “in sickness and in health till death us do part”. This is a covenant that couples make with one another, in the presence of family and friends, and where God is witness. God takes this marriage covenant very seriously, and blesses the couple whose covering is the safe haven under which children are born and raised to become the next generation, so that couples may “be fruitful and multiply”.
Dear God, we pray that You will protect and bless the couples who are joined to each other in your institution of marriage. As they bring forth children, bless the family and especially the young ones to find You and know You in Your time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
