Oftentimes, human romantic love is an expression; there are people who madly “fall in love” but then later find that they have lost those loving feelings. Certainly, there are times when people who are married do not “feel” love for each other in the way that they used to, but that does not mean that their love exists any less. Christian couples who have been married for a long time work on keeping and staying true to their marriage vows. When you grow to know that person enough that some of your illusions are broken, there comes a chance for real and selfless love. With God’s covenant love in the center of marriage, real love can never fail; even if “lost”, it can be found again.
Abba Father, thank You for Your sacrificial, unfailing love at the cross that comes with a promise of covenant love in Your Son Jesus Christ. Help us to keep our marriage vows in the power of Your love from strength to strength, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
