For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Esther 4:14 (ESV)
The book of Esther teaches us that God is at work in the smallest details. Both Mordecai and Queen Esther trusted in God when their people faced great danger. At first, Esther was unaware of what was going on; but when her time came, she stepped up big time. Trusting in God is not passive. Esther was brave in risking her life to see the king and identifying herself as a Jew. She was wise in how she dealt with the situation and how she inspired her people to fast.
These verses challenge us to trust in God’s guidance in our daily life and to take up the cross and follow Jesus when the Holy Spirit prompts us. “And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 (NIV).
We are called to serve God’s purpose in this life where the Lord has positioned us.
Father God, thank You for Your word and Your promises. There are difficult times as the enemy seeks to steal and to destroy us, but Christ has overcome the world including our sicknesses and diseases. God’s word and His righteousness will come to pass. He is faithful if we remain in His love and purpose. Help us to remain in You. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
