In the book of Esther, the word that is most frequently mentioned in reference to Esther is “favour.“ Early in the book, when Esther was taken into the king’s palace, she found favour from Hegai. Ultimately, she won grace and favour from the king more than all the other virgins. So what was the key to Esther’s favour? It was obedience, as she obeyed God by lending her ears to wisdom and to the people whom God had placed over her. Just as Jesus obeyed the Father to the point of dying on the cross, Esther’s obedience transformed her from an orphan to a queen.
Heavenly Father, help us not to live according to our own will, but to live in obedience to You, so we may receive Your protection and favour over us. In Jesus name, Amen!
