Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.

ther replied to Mordecai’s request, saying, “And so, I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther carried a bold attitude towards her mission, determined to be obedient no matter the cost. Jesus exhorted us to have the same attitude when He said, “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul” (Matt 10:28). Paul was also an example of this attitude, stating, “To live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21).
As we obey our heavenly Father, let’s remind ourselves that, like Esther, we have God’s protection and favour.
We thank You Lord for this example of a woman passionate to obey. You gave her such great favour, Lord. We pray for this grace and strength to fulfil Your word in all we do, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
