They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

In recent years, politics have resulted in divisions everywhere, including within the Church. These divisions are mainly caused by differing opinions rather than the Truth. Opinions rather than Truth can enslave us as they fan the flames of what we want to hear. We end up with eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear. This has hindered the preaching of the Gospel, making it challenging to effectively witness to those we do not get along with. However, I have found that with the help of the Holy Spirit, giving examples of both sides exhibiting similar behaviours and acknowledging flaws within both sides can help break down barriers. As the Bible says in Romans 3:10, "None is righteous, no, not one."
Father in Heaven, thank You that Your Truth sets us free from what we hear from the world. Help us discern between truths and lies through Your Holy Spirit. With Your Word help us speak with wisdom to be a witness in our neighbourhoods and to the nations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
