And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.

When Jesus pointed out the widow who gave two small copper coins, He was not looking at the amount but the heart behind her giving. What we can learn from the poor widow is that when she gave all she had, she had nothing left to fall back on and was in a position of needing to trust Jesus completely. When we place ourselves in a position where there is no safety net and all we can do is trust God, He will not forget us and will provide everything that we need. We will experience a new level of freedom and peace.
Heavenly Father, help us to learn to completely surrender to You in total abandonment. Help us not to rely on ourselves and put our trust in You and You alone. In Jesus name, Amen!
