But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said,
"Here I am." He said, "Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me!"Genesis 22:11-12 (ESV)
In his obedience, Abraham offered up Isaac. When God asked for the most precious thing/person in his life, he gave without reserve. He lived out his God-fearing faith. He offered without any protest.
Whatever he possessed, cattle, servants, cannot be compared to Isaac, his only son. Issac was his heir. His promise from God, his seed.
Do we fear God enough to obey? Can we trust Him with our possessions, our needs, our future, our Isaac?
Dear Father God, let our life choices demonstrate our reverence for You. We can hear You clearly and we would choose to obey You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
